CURRENT RELEASE

2022 Spearhunter Pinot Noir Label

2022 Ribbon Ridge Pinot Noir // $54

This is largely the reason we moved to Oregon to start making wine – Pinot Noir! Sourced from the prestigious Ribbon Ridge AVA of the Willamette Valley, a growing region that measures only 5 square miles and routinely produces some of Oregon’s most acclaimed wines, this bottling contains a blend of clones 777 (60%) and Wadenswil (40%) from the organically farmed Lichtenwalter vineyard. This wine reflects a growing season that remained cold and wet well into June, followed by a summer that persisted into late October when the grapes were finally hand-harvested. We aim to produce a wine that is balanced and elegant – reminiscent of an old-world style, where primary fruit flavors are complimented by underlying savory notes. Winemaking included a wild fermentation and gentle extraction over 22 days in vat, followed by 9 months of aging in low-impact French oak barrels and 9 months of bottle aging prior to release. We incredibly happy with how this wine turned out, and feel that it shows Pinot Noir at its finest expression!

This wine is ready to drink now – opening up in a glass to display rich cherry notes over earthy spices – or to save for any special occasion in the future!

Pairs perfectly with venison, duck, and salmon

2022 Willamette Valley Chardonnay // $38

Chardonnay crops were much reduced in 2022 due to late frosts that killed many of the early buds on the vines. In spite of a difficult beginning, we couldn’t be happier with the quality of wine produced this harvest. Clone 96 Chardonnay grapes were hand-harvested from near the Eola-Amity Hills of Oregon’s Willamette Valley and quickly pressed, immediately showing a lush tropical aroma and flavor. Much care was taken during the winemaking to ensure these characteristics persisted while avoiding the onset of the often overwhelming oak and butter flavors associated with many Chardonnays. A wild fermentation followed by 15 months of aging in neutral oak on full lees shaped a round-bodied richness and mouthfeel that complements the lemon and pineapple fruit flavors wrapped within the wine. Finally, the wine was tightened and refined by a brief 3 months of aging in stainless steel prior to bottling.

Whether you are a Chardonnay lover or skeptic, this wine will bring great surprise and enjoyment with every glass. We recommend serving slightly chilled now or for several years as it ages.

Pairs beautifully with fresh white fish, crab, and oysters

2023 Spearhunter Albarino Label

2023 Columbia Valley Albariño // $29

Albariño is a crisp and aromatic white grape from northern Spain, and a unique contrast to the typical varieties planted in the Willamette Valley. A wine with growing popularity, this has also been an opportunity for us to show our love for Spain and Spanish wines, and as a homage to where David studied winemaking. These grapes were sourced from northern Oregon on the rocky hills of the Columbia River, hand-picked, then quickly pressed upon arrival at the winery. The juice underwent a wild fermentation in neutral oak, then was transferred to a stainless steel tank to condition for 6 months in order to preserve the delicate aromas of the wine. Malolactic fermentation was inhibited, allowing the apple-like crispness to remain in the wine. The flavor is between a Sauvignon Blanc and a Riesling, with notes of peach, pear, and honeysuckle flowers.

Serve chilled from the fridge now or within the next few years. While there is no residual sugar in the wine, you will find it to be easy drinking and very enjoyable in its young age.

Pairs wonderfully with fresh shellfish, or in a glass on its own
