CURRENT RELEASE

2023 Ribbon Ridge Pinot Noir // $56

Our second vintage release of Ribbon Ridge Pinot Noir! Same style – different vintage – The 2023 growing season was a stark contrast to 2022. Fruit was hand-harvested nearly a month and a half earlier (in early September vs. late October) after a summer characterized by hot, sunny weather with hardly a drop of rain. The resulting wine shows a character of riper and dried red fruits with a notably more structured and tannic backbone. Our signature gentile winemaking technique was implemented to avoid over-extraction, and an extended barrel aging of 16 months softened the tannins nicely to produce a wine that showcases the same savory and spicy notes as 2022 wrapped in a richer Pinot Noir produced by the warmer growing season of 2023. The clonal blend is 70% 777 // 30% Pommard.

This wine is easily enjoyed today and will benefit from the tannic structure to last many years in your cellar. We are so pleased with how our second Pinot Noir vintage turned out and look forward to drinking it for years to come!

Pairs perfectly with venison, duck, and salmon

SHCH2023 Label

2023 Willamette Valley Chardonnay // $32

A new Chardonnay vineyard this year resulted in a contrasting wine style from 2022, featuring notable Oregon Chardonnay features like lime zest and a prominent salinity in a zippy and refreshing white wine. The grapes were hand harvested from a small plot in the southern Eola-Amity Hills on a east-facing hillside, pressed, then wild fermented in neutral French oak barrels. The wine was tight and restrained for many months and opened slowly to reveal the characters of the vineyard site over the course of 16 months on lees in barrel. Following the barrel aging, the wine spent 6 months in stainless steel and was bottled unfiltered to preserve the body and mouthfeel stemming from almost two years of winemaking.

Chardonnay is a grape that produces a wonderful variety of wine styles, and we hope you enjoy the flavors of a new vineyard and vintage in 2023!

Pairs beautifully with fresh white fish, crab, and oysters

2024 Columbia Valley Albariño // $29

Our not-so-guilty pleasure once again comes from a small plot of this Spanish white varietal planted with a view of the Columbia river in northern Oregon, with 2024 producing a splendid bottling of refreshing and aromatic Albariño. We take a very early morning trip up to the gorge for the start of the pick at sunrise and bring the fruit back to Corvallis as soon as it is harvested for pressing! Spontaneous fermentation in barrels turns the juice a bright orange and brings out beautiful flavors of peach, nectarine, and citrus. The finished wine is racked to stainless steel where malolactic fermentation is inhibited and the wine settles and clarifies over the next 5 months. The bottling is done in Spring to preserve the character of this special wine!

If you haven’t had the chance to try a Spearhunter Albariño, or maybe you know about this easy-drinking crowd pleaser, it would be wise to get your bottles before this small batch is sold out! Only 400 bottles produced…and they go quick!

Pairs wonderfully with fresh shellfish, or in a glass on its own
